OCT 3-11: The 2009 Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) was inaugurated by American filmmaker and director, Quentin Tarantino. More than 2,000 international artists will be participating.
OCT 4-17: The Society of American Travel Writers visits Guadalajara to celebrate its 54th Annual Convention. According to SATW President, they selected Guadalajara due to its rich culture, history and unique beauty.
OCT 9-18: The 9th International Festival of Arts in Tampico, Tamaulipas. Opera singer Placido Domingo opened the festival, which will have more than 580 events and close to 650,000 visitors are expected to join
OCT 9-NOV 9: Octoberfest Guadalajara, the city hosts a 30 day long celebration with more than 30 concerts featuring rock, pop, mariachi and folk music, cultural contests and performing artists
OCT 10-14: Puerto Los Cabos World Cup’s World Class Fishing and Celebrity Golf Tournaments
OCT 14- NOV 1: Cervantino International Festival, this time it is celebrating the International Year of Astronomy with the theme of Galileo and the Telescope: 400 years.
DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATIONS ALONG THE COUNTRY:
OCT 25 to NOV 1: Skeletons Festival in Mexico, City. This festival has been held since 2001 with a series of activities that take place on the green areas of the National Arts Center: altars, workshops, dramatized stories, musical shows and a handicraft fair.
OCT 22 to NOV 2: Festival of Death in Guanajuato.
OCT 28 to NOV 2: Xantolo: Feast of Life and Death in Tempoal, north Veracruz and also in San Luis Potosí
OCT 30 to NOV 2: All Saints Day celebration in Oaxaca City. Visit an exhibit traditional rugs made of flowers, elaborated for the event called “the raising of the cross” which takes place nine days after the burial of the departed relatives.
OCT 30 to NOV 7: 9th Feast of the Souls in Valle de Bravo. Just one hour and a half driving from México City, another festival will take place to enjoy music concerts, plays, culinary exhibitions, workshops and a wide list of international artists coming from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, US, France, Italy, Peru, Poland and Russia
OCT 30 to NOV 2: Janal Pixan, or Feast of the Souls in Xcaret. Enjoy a beautiful tradition of the Mayan region, according to which the death arrives solely with the forgetfulness reason why, every year, they remember their deceased friends and relatives. It includes a local food show, music performances and more.
NOV 13-16: International Balloon Festival in Leon, Guanajuato. It is the biggest and most important hot air balloon event in Latin America. The IBF received around 250,000 visitors on the 2008 edition and expects 300,000 this year with the participation of 100 Balloons.
