Experience fall equinox in Chichen Itza this September
Tourists from all over the world travel to Yucatan to experience the “shadow of the moving serpent” during the spring and fall equinox at the Kukulkan Pyramid in Chichen Itza, an experience so unique it deserves a spot on your “must see” list.
On September 21st, you too can observe how the sunset and the location of the pyramid allows for the shadow of the serpent to move down the pyramid steps until it reaches the serpent’s head at the bottom, an event that shows the great astronomers and mathematicians that the Mayans were.
Chichen Itza is open to the public seven days a week, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at a cost of $111 pesos (roughly $11 dollars). You can also enjoy the light and sound show at night - another truly enjoyable experience at this archeological site.
Those interested in visiting Chichen Itza can pre-book their tours from as far as Cancun and Riviera Maya, yet those wishing to be closer can enjoy Yucatan’s capital city of Merida, or simply stay just minutes away from the archeological site in the municipality of Tinum.

Celebrating Independence Day in San Miguel de Allende
It’s party time in Mexico with the Independence Day celebrations around the corner. So raise your tequila glass and rock out Mexican style to celebrate the holiday that commemorates Mexico’s Independence.
One of the best experiences to celebrate this Mexican holiday is to join the crowd in San Miguel de Allende, in the state of Guanajuato. A very traditional celebration is the Entrada de Los Insurgentes, which means the “Entrance of the Revolutionaries.” This event commemorates the beginning of the fight for independence in San Miguel de Allende, by recreating the same happening that took place in 1810. The act replicates the entrance of the soldiers, riding their horses, into the Jardín, or Garden. This is held every 16th of September at 4:15 pm.
San Miguel de Allende, apart from being a city with pleasant weather, with numerous and fun activities, it is a place for discovering true traditional Mexico. The evening concludes with joyful folkloric dances and colorful fireworks.
Hacienda de las Flores is a great option to stay at and experience a historical atmosphere.
