SEPT 3-20: ZACATECAS NATIONAL FAIR. ZACATECAS Colonial jewel Zacatecas, celebrates its rich cultural history with a two week-long fair with musical performances, amusement ride for the children, theater performances, and an assortment of regional cuisine. http://www.festivalmexicomiami.com

SEPT 2-25: 2nd FESTIVAL MEXICO MIAMI. MIAMI, FLORIDA. Four weeks with more than 50 activities that includes art exhibits, Independence Day celebrations, a fashion show, film shows and more.

SEPT 9-13: CULINARY FESTIVAL: A TASTE OF VERACRUZ. MIAMI, FLORIDA Mexico brings the authentic and exquisite food of Veracruz as the JW Marriott Miami Hotel welcomes the 2nd culinary festival “A Taste of Veracruz”. Regional succulent dishes from this State of the Gulf of Mexico will be served for lunch and dinner at La Terraza  Cafe & Bar, from September 9th through the 13th.

SEPT 14: DAY OF THE CHARRO. RIVIERA NAYARIT. Charros are honored on their Day with parades on horseback through all the towns that have a charro ring, Puerto Vallarta included.

SEPT 15–16: MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY. NATIONWIDE. Mexico celebrates its declaration of independence from Spain in 1810. The night of September 15, marks "El Grito," a dramatic reenactment of revolutionary Father Hidalgo's call for his fellow Mexicans to join the uprising, which takes place at city halls across the country. On September 16, military parades are held in almost every Mexican city.

SEPT 17-27: ANTHROPOLOGY AND HISTORY BOOK FAIR. NATIONAL ANTHROPOLOGY MUSEUM (MNA), MEXICO CITY. This event will be the beginning of the institute’s 70th anniversary celebrations as well as of the museum’s 45 years since it was founded. The fair will have more than 300 events. Expected to be at the fair are more than 100,000 visitors, 110 press members, 120 specialists, 62 book presentations, and a total of approximately 10,000 books of all types. www.mna.inah.gob.mx

SEPT 21: FALL EQUINOX. CHICHEN ITZA, YUCATAN.Thousands of people from around the world gather at this Mayan ruin on the Yucatan Peninsula to witness the afternoon shadow of the snake-god Kukulcan slowly "crawl down" the pyramid of Kukulkan.
